Located in the heart of the Charleston, South Carolina region, Carnes Crossroads is evolving as a thoughtfully planned community reminiscent of some of the finest and most neighborly authentic southern towns. With traditional neighborhoods, parks and trails, a school and church, and downtown conveniences, Carnes Crossroads is becoming a central gathering place and preferred residential address for the growing Summerville area of Charleston.
The community's iconic and historic Green Barn sits at the entrance of the first neighborhoods at Carnes Crossroads. Restored as an open-air space for neighborly gatherings and special events, it is a venue for everything from a seasonal Farmers' Market to yoga and fitness classes, concerts, wine tastings, lectures and more. Beyond the barn, a commercial downtown is developing as a thriving center for shopping, dining, medical services and other conveniences, and Northwood Academy and Northwood Church share a 40-acre campus, serving parishioners and students in grades K-12.
The residents at Carnes Crossroads are enjoying the first of many parks, a swimming pool and miles of fitness and leisure trails in the first neighborhoods. With the St. Thomas Park neighborhood now complete, the newest neighborhood, St. James Park, will continue to grow in 2017, and the community’s first lake-oriented homes will be offered. Also in 2017, Carnes Crossroads will see the opening of an assisted living facility, high-end apartments and new medical offices, and work is scheduled to get underway on a new hospital from Roper St. Francis.
The single-family homes at Carnes Crossroads are being built by David Weekly Homes, Sabal Homes, Eastwood Homes, Ashton Woods Homes and John Wieland Homes. The ownership and development team behind the development of Carnes Crossroads is also responsible for the highly successful 4,000-acre community of Daniel Island in Charleston.
