Whether you’re looking for independent living, assisted living or memory support, The Village offers the ideal retirement lifestyle. Located in Gainesville, Florida, home to the University of Florida Gators, residents benefit from world-class health care, recreational activities, cultural events and more while enjoying a historically rich, relaxing community.
The Vitality Program:
For each resident who participates in this program, the community performs an initial health and wellness assessment, conducted by the full-time Vitality Coordinator. Using this individualized assessment, they create a Vitality Plan. This customized plan gives each resident a variety of personalized recommendations, from activities to classes that optimize their health and well-being. They also regularly reassess each resident’s Vitality Assessment and Plan, which helps encourage continued participation and promotes progress.
While participation in the Vitality Program is completely voluntary, more than 98% of residents have chosen to be involved with some aspect of the program and they were recently recognized for the program at the Florida LeadingAge conference. Partnership with Santa Fe College:
Under an exclusive new partnership with Santa Fe College, residents of The Village can enjoy unlimited access to college courses, along with lectures and a variety of arts and sporting events on the college’s campus. And it’s all free.
In addition to tuition-free classes, residents have full access to lectures on a variety of subject matters, as well as admittance and reserved seating to fine arts events, theatre, dance and musical performances at Santa Fe’s new Fine Arts Hall. They can also enjoy private showings and special tours of the college’s planetarium and teaching zoo.
UF Health Vitality Mind is a collaborative brain fitness program between University of Florida Health and The Village. The program offers residents the opportunity to take part in a variety of brain-boosting courses to improve thinking and memory. Some tools researchers use include meditation, video games and neurostimulation.
The innovative program also serves as a learning laboratory. The goal will be to use discoveries and research from participants to help further future possibilities for improving brain health.
